Projection Matrix Models: A Suitable Approach for Predicting Sustainable Growth in Uneven-Aged and Mixed Hyrcanian Forests

چکیده
The Hyrcanian forests of Iran are mainly managed with the single-selection silvicultural technique. Despite significant ecological benefits associated selection cutting, this type forest management leads towards more challenging situations where it is difficult to maintain and practice successful forestry than in even-aged systems. Therefore, study provides relevant tools form models estimate low growth levels forests. In present study, estimation population rate then allowable cut these using a matrix model have been calculated Gorazbon district. For purpose, data 256 permanent sample plots measured during years between 2003 2012, as well recorded about trees harvested according plan, used. As first step, most frequently occurring tree species were divided into four groups (beech, hornbeam, chestnut-leaved oak, other species). Compartments district two logged unlogged compartments. purpose division was compare its volume volumes observed predicted cuts obtained from plans. results showed that total operated (OAC) compartments estimated (EAC). compartments, (PAC) EAC. A comparison EAC OAC hornbeam has potential. However, oak group depicted opposite trends. Our provide important advancements for estimating can enhance goal practicing sustainable forestry.

An Area-Based Matrix Model for Uneven-Aged Forests
In this paper a new concept for modeling uneven-aged forests (UEAF) is presented. The term UEAF in this article encloses all forests that deviate from the even-aged structure. The matrix model is area-based, in that the forest under study is described by a distribution of areas over fixed state-spaces spanned by stem number and volume per hectare classes. Dynamics is introduced as transitions o...

15 صفحه اولSustainable management of uneven-aged private forests: a case study from Ontario, Canada
A matrix growth model is estimated on the basis of growth data (growth period 5 years) of 14 measurement plots of uneven-aged white pine from southern Ontario. The impact of three economic factors specific to the private forests on the sustainable management of private woodlots is evaluated and discussed, and the trade-off between environmental and economic values is examined. These three econo...
متن کاملHow Timber Harvesting and Biodiversity are Managed in Uneven-Aged Forests: A Cluster-Sample Econometric Approach
Nonindustrial private forest (NIPF) landowners have been shown to be more multi-objective by nature than industrial landowners: they give more importance to standing timber and forestland for the amenity values they provide (Newman & Wear, 1993). Among analyses of forest landowner behaviour, the household production framework recognises the benefits associated with forest amenities, as first ap...
متن کاملEquilibrium Curves and Growth Models to Deal with Forests in Transition to Uneven-Aged Structure – Application in Two Sample Stands
Stem number distributions in uneven-aged forests are assumed to be stable, if they follow special functions, e.g. de Liocourt’s reverse J-shaped breast height diameter distribution. These distributions therefore are frequently regarded as a target in all-aged forests. Intending to convert an even-aged forest or any other forest, not yet exhibiting this sort of equilibrium, towards a steady stat...
